The Monroe lift, which enables the Jeep to use standard 3-point farming implements, along with the optional rear power take off (PTO) unit allows the Jeep to function as a light duty utility tractor. The lift was the third “Jeep Approved” model and was in production for almost a decade.
The Monroe lift design was a major departure from the Love and later Newgren under-bed configuration. We have been able, with the help of others, to document some of the lift’s history, along with original document (see below). In addition, in 1948 Monroe produced what we now call an infomercial to introduce the lift. It can be seen here.
